Hewitt's Fall Weekends Now Run Between Warren Park and Regal Drive

All three of the Greater Hewitt Chamber's big events from now to the end of the year happen at the same place, Warren Park at 450 S. Old Temple Road. Since June 13, 2026, Hewitt has also had a second gathering spot that's open far more often. The Feed Lot Food Truck Park at 153 Regal Drive has trucks serving from 7 a.m. on weekdays until 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

The park sets the dates, and Regal Drive feeds people on every day in between. One Hewitt business is already moving its storefront into the truck park. A home baker on Hewitt Drive went the other way and opened a storefront. The guide below puts the fall in order: event dates first, then which kitchen is open when.

Warren Park Holds the Calendar

The Chamber's fall and holiday events all take place on one lawn. Here are the dates as currently listed:

  1. Dog Days, Saturday, October 10, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Rain pushed it back, and the Chamber's page now says it will be at Warren Park on October 10. Species K9 Dog Training and Boarding is the presenting sponsor. There are weenie dog races, a pet costume parade, vendors and door prizes, and you must be there to win a prize. Admission is free and parking is $5. Race entry is $10, and you can pre-register online or sign up the morning of the event. Food truck prices are separate.
  2. Creekside Spooktacular, Wednesday, October 28, 6 to 8 p.m. This is the 12th year. GENCO Federal Credit Union and the City of Hewitt present it, with trick-or-treating, a costume contest, a kids' zone and food trucks. Parking is $5 per carload.
  3. Christmas Tree Lighting, Thursday, December 3, 5:30 to 7 p.m. The Chamber lists vendors, food trucks, Midway ISD carolers and Santa. There will also be a Toys for Tots collection.

Dog Days is in its 8th year. The money it raises goes to the Hewitt Public Library, and volunteers collect dry dog food for local animal shelters. Rescue and adoption groups usually set up at the event, so families sometimes go home with a new dog. Other activities include Glam Fur pet photos and an area called Doggyville. Some older text on the Chamber's Dog Days page still says "Hewitt Park." The postponement notice at the top of the page and the event FAQ both say Warren Park, so go by those. The Chamber posts weather updates on that page and on its Facebook page.

Two of the three events fall on weeknights. That's why the second address matters. The park gives you about two hours per event, and food that's open on a Wednesday or Thursday night covers the rest of the evening.

153 Regal Drive Covers the Hours in Between

FOX 44 covered The Feed Lot's opening day. The launch had live music and cold drinks, and the trucks included Frenchie Daddy French Toast, Armstrong's Bayou Café and Fat Boyz Tacos. The park has covered seating, TVs, games and a pet area. The Wacoan published a food truck guide in September that lists live music on weekends. It also gives the lineup and hours below.

Truck What it serves Hours listed in September
Frenchie Daddy French toast for breakfast, lunch and dinner Mon–Tue 7 a.m.–1 p.m.; Wed–Fri 7 a.m.–1 p.m. and 5–8 p.m.; Sat 9 a.m.–1 p.m. and 5–8 p.m.; Sun 10 a.m.–2 p.m.
Beach Bums Dirty sodas and energy drink mixes Mon–Sat 11 a.m.–8 p.m.
Lefty's Burgers & More Burgers and big sandwiches Mon–Thu 11 a.m.–9 p.m.; Fri–Sat 11 a.m.–10 p.m.
Armstrong's Bayou Cafe Cajun po' boys, boils, catfish Check online
J-Petal & Poke Poke bowls, crepes, Thai rolled ice cream Coming soon

The menus give The Feed Lot a personality that fits a town whose biggest fall event is about dogs. Frenchie Daddy names its dishes after dog breeds. The Pyrenees is its version of a Monte Cristo, made with smoked ham and berry compote on challah dusted with powdered sugar. The Cane Corso is sourdough soaked in egg and filled with provolone, Genoa salame, pepperoni, ham, mozzarella and cheddar. The Whippet is a sugar-free, low-carb French toast with Greek yogurt, berry compote and granola, and the truck has gluten-free options.

The other trucks fill out the evening. At Beach Bums, the Waco Wave mixes Dr Pepper with coconut cream and fresh lime. Deep Water starts with Pepsi and adds blackberry, raspberry and vanilla cream. Lefty's sells a patty melt on Texas toast with mustard and grilled onion. Its Big Nasty is two chicken-fried steaks with four slices of pepper bacon, two fried eggs and gravy. Armstrong's covers Cajun food with po' boys, seafood boils and jambalaya pasta.

Look at the hours side by side. On a Wednesday or Thursday, Frenchie Daddy serves again from 5 to 8 p.m. and Lefty's stays open until 9. The Spooktacular runs from 6 to 8 on a Wednesday, and the tree lighting runs from 5:30 to 7 on a Thursday. On both nights, the Regal Drive trucks are scheduled to be open after the park event ends.

A Storefront Moving Into a Truck Park

According to the Wacoan, J-Petal & Poke is moving from its Hewitt storefront to The Feed Lot. It will bring build-your-own poke bowls, crepes and hand-rolled Thai ice cream.

Restaurants usually grow the other way, starting as a truck and moving into a building. When a business leaves a Hewitt storefront for a shared truck park, it shows how much The Feed Lot has become a destination in its own right. The guide also shows the roster changing quickly. Fat Boyz Tacos was there on opening day but isn't in the September lineup. J-Petal & Poke was still listed as coming soon. The table is a snapshot from late summer, not a permanent list. Before you go, check the trucks' own pages for that day's hours.

Mornings Start on Hewitt Drive

Red's Bake Shop went the more familiar way. Owner Lorraine Carrau told KWTX she moved from Puerto Rico in 2014. She started by selling home-baked desserts on weekends. After losing a job she had held for 12 years, she decided to open a storefront. She expected Puerto Rican bread and her coffee to be the top sellers. KWTX listed the opening date as July 11 at 135 N. Hewitt Drive.

A recent business column by Mike Copeland in the Waco Tribune-Herald reported that the bakery at Suite 136 has been drawing crowds and rave reviews since its grand opening. Carrau sells breads, pastries, cakes and desserts. Red's posts a custom-order menu with an 8-inch Puerto Rican custard flan for $25. It also lists cinnamon rolls, cheesecakes, cake sickles, decorated and New York-style cookies, cupcakes and macarons. Cake flavors run from pistachio and green apple to cinnamon bun cake. Specialty cakes include red velvet, brandy, amaretto and champagne. The shop notes that the menu can change.

That custom-order menu works well with the Warren Park dates. A flan or a tray of decorated cookies ordered ahead can go to a tree lighting gathering or a Halloween party. Red's doesn't publish regular hours on that menu page, so call or check online before you plan to drop in.

The Next Stop on Hewitt Drive

There may be one more stop by the holidays. A filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation describes a 7 Brew drive-through coffee shop at 736 Hewitt Drive. The project would convert an existing quick-service restaurant building into a drive-through-only coffee shop. Work was scheduled to start August 24, and the filing estimates completion by November 30, 2026. That date is a construction estimate, not an announced opening. If the work runs on schedule, the shop could be finished about three days before the tree lighting.

How the Two Addresses Fit Together on October 10

Dog Days shows how this works. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with $5 parking and food trucks at the park. On Saturdays, according to the September listings, Frenchie Daddy at The Feed Lot serves from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and again from 5 to 8 p.m. Beach Bums runs 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Lefty's stays open until 10 p.m. The Feed Lot also has a pet area. A dog that just finished a costume parade can come along to dinner.

On the following Sunday, October 18, Woodway holds its monthly farmers market at the Carleen Bright Arboretum from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with vendors and food trucks. The November market is Sunday, November 15, at the same time and place. That gives you three fall weekends with something planned between the two towns. On Regal Drive, the trucks keep their regular hours between those dates.

Alan Hardin and Ten42 Realty follow what opens, moves and changes on Hewitt's streets the same way we follow the market, because both shape what a Hewitt address is worth.
